Olivia Munn Opens Up About Surrogacy and Cancer Journey

Olivia Munn welcomes baby via surrogacy after cancer battle

Olivia Munn just revealed she felt like an "expectant father" during her surrogacy journey. The actress and her partner John Mulaney welcomed their daughter Méi in June, making their 2-year-old son Malcolm a big brother. Unlike her first pregnancy, Munn chose surrogacy after being diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer in 2023.

Following a double mastectomy, her oncologist advised against carrying another baby due to pregnancy hormones potentially affecting her cancer. During the surrogate's pregnancy, Munn found herself experiencing what many fathers do - being emotionally invested but physically disconnected from the pregnancy. She couldn't feel the kicks or have that physical bond mothers typically experience. Despite these challenges, Munn and Mulaney stayed closely involved throughout the journey, attending appointments virtually when possible. Now with baby Méi home, Munn says their family feels complete, proving that there are many beautiful paths to parenthood.
