House Passes Trump’s $1.5T Bill by One Vote

GOP-backed bill locks in tax cuts, slashes spending, and advances Trump’s key agenda.

House Republicans just passed Trump's massive One Big Beautiful Bill Act by a single vote. This sweeping $1.5 trillion legislation is packed with Republican wins. The bill makes the 2017 tax cuts permanent, preventing a 22% tax hike for Americans. It also delivers on Trump's promise of no taxes on tips, overtime pay, or car loan interest. For immigration, it requires a Social Security number to claim tax credits and applies new fees for remittance payments. The bill slashes government spending by $1.5 trillion while raising the debt ceiling by $4 trillion. It allocates $34 billion for shipbuilding, $25 billion for Trump's Golden Dome missile defense, and puts work requirements on SNAP benefits. Student loans are consolidated into just two payment plans with new caps on borrowing. For energy, it reinstates oil and gas leases and eliminates Biden's electric vehicle mandates. The bill narrowly passed 215-214, with all Democrats opposing. Now it heads to the Senate with a July 4th deadline before potentially landing on Trump's desk.
