Charles Kushner Confirmed as U.S. Ambassador to France

New Role: Charles Kushner named U.S. ambassador to France.

This convicted felon just became America's ambassador to France. Charles Kushner, father of Jared Kushner, secured Senate confirmation despite an astonishing criminal past. In 2005, Kushner pleaded guilty to 18 charges including tax evasion and witness tampering. He even hired a sex worker to seduce his brother-in-law, secretly recorded it, and sent the footage to his sister.

After serving just 14 months in prison, Kushner received a presidential pardon from Trump in December 2020 during his final days in office. Now, in May 2025, the Senate has confirmed him 51-45, with only one Democrat crossing party lines. Former prosecutor Chris Christie once called Kushner's actions "one of the most loathsome, disgusting crimes" he had ever prosecuted. Critics question sending a pardoned felon as a top diplomat, while supporters cite his business experience. Kushner becomes the 10th ambassador confirmed in Trump's second term.
